5 G-Dragon events and pop-ups in Hong Kong, from cafes to pop-ups

G-Dragon, the โ€œking of K-popโ€, is bringing his โ€œUbermenschโ€ world tour to Hong Kong this weekend, with three performances at AsiaWorld-Expo from August 8 to 10.

The tour โ€“ his first in eight years โ€“ kicked off in South Korea earlier this year and has already made stops in Japan, the Philippines, Macau, Malaysia, Taiwan and Indonesia. This weekendโ€™s shows will mark the first time the singer has been back in the city since 2017.

The return of G-Dragon, born Kwon Ji-yong, follows the release of his third studio album, Ubermensch, his first musical release since 2017โ€™s Kwon Ji-yong. The album debuted at No 2 on Circle Chart, a Korean ranking platform, selling 440,000 copies in its first week.

The Ubermensch tour marks the singerโ€™s official solo comeback. He has, until now, been focusing on producing music for other artists, working on special collaborations and being an ambassador for brands like Chanel and Gentle Monster.

G-Dragon, who has been performing since he was a young child, is a household name in Korea and has fans that span generations.

โ€œTickets are always so challenging. Even when fans use multiple platforms and devices, we usually have to use VPNs that wouldnโ€™t even end up preventing the entire system from crashing. I think this time they were all gone within 10 minutes,โ€ recalls Zhu Guan-ming, a fan who resorted to buying seats via separate ticketing agencies at a higher price.
