Hong Kong to align with national blueprint, seize opportunities: John Lee

Hong Kong will identify its strategic positioning within the national development blueprint and proactively align with the countryโ€™s next five-year plan, the cityโ€™s leader has said.

Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said on Thursday that recommendations adopted at the fourth plenum of the Communist Partyโ€™s Central Committee โ€“ where the countryโ€™s political leadership deliberated on the 15th five-year plan โ€“ were of great significance and impact to Hong Kong.

โ€œHong Kong will identify and focus on its advantageous positioning in the countryโ€™s development blueprint, proactively align with the chapters on Hong Kong and Macau in the 15th five-year plan, seize the significant opportunities brought about by the countryโ€™s development, and leverage its own unique advantages in national development,โ€ he said.

Lee also said society would study the spirit of the plenum, make full use of the principle of โ€œpatriots administering Hong Kongโ€ and contribute to the countryโ€™s rejuvenation.

The fourth plenum concluded on Thursday. The core agenda centred around formulating the blueprint for Chinaโ€™s 15th five-year plan, which will guide the countryโ€™s development from 2026 to 2030.
