Mbappรฉ and PSG trade countersuits worth hundreds of millions

Kylian Mbappรฉ celebrates after scoring France's first goal during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris, on November 13, 2025.

The bitter dispute between Kylian Mbappรฉ and his former club Paris Saint-Germain reached the French Labor court on Monday, November 17, for a tense hearing in which the French striker claimed โ‚ฌ263 million and the club responded by demanding he pay them โ‚ฌ440 million. Both sides offered a long shopping list of grievances with price tags attached.

PSG said they are basing their figure in part on a botched โ‚ฌ300 million transfer to Saudi club Al Hilal, which the player refused in June 2023 and its aftermath.

Mbappรฉ, 26, initially filed a complaint in June over the way he was treated by PSG at the start of the 2023-24 season. He believes he was sidelined by the Qatari-owned club and made to train with players the club was trying to offload after refusing to agree a new contract. It is a practice that has also affected other footballers, prompting the French players’ union to lodge a complaint last year.

Mbappรฉ was not invited to take part in PSG’s 2023 pre-season tour of Asia and missed the first game of that season, but was later restored to the team after holding talks with the club. After seven seasons with PSG, he joined Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer, where he earns a reported annual salary of โ‚ฌ30 million. He scored 256 goals in 308 games for PSG, but the club won the Champions League for the first time last season following the striker’s departure.
