Hong Kong will identify its strategic positioning within the national development blueprint and proactively align with the countryโs next five-year plan, the cityโs leader has said.
Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said on Thursday that recommendations adopted at the fourth plenum of the Communist Partyโs Central Committee โ where the countryโs political leadership deliberated on the 15th five-year plan โ were of great significance and impact to Hong Kong.
โHong Kong will identify and focus on its advantageous positioning in the countryโs development blueprint, proactively align with the chapters on Hong Kong and Macau in the 15th five-year plan, seize the significant opportunities brought about by the countryโs development, and leverage its own unique advantages in national development,โ he said.
Lee also said society would study the spirit of the plenum, make full use of the principle of โpatriots administering Hong Kongโ and contribute to the countryโs rejuvenation.
The fourth plenum concluded on Thursday. The core agenda centred around formulating the blueprint for Chinaโs 15th five-year plan, which will guide the countryโs development from 2026 to 2030.
Lau Siu-kai, a consultant for the semi-official Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macau Studies think tank, said the wording for Hong Kong in the communique this year was much the same as that in previous ones.
