Megan Thee Stallion joined Michelle Obamaโs IMO podcast on Wednesday (Aug. 12), during which she shed light on her feelings that the internet has allowed artists with โterribleโ music to achieve viral fame too easily.
Obamaโs cohost Craig Robinson learned that Meganโs mother was an artist who taught her how to be a professional and go about her business in music, while others in this current landscape โwant the fame without the hard work that goes into it.โ
โI mean, honestly, itโs a little bit easier to do that, though, now,โ Megan agreed. โYou can go viral on Instagram and have a terrible song.โ
She continued: โThe internet has made it really easy to be famous โ good or bad. I think you can tell the difference between people who really love what they do and people who just want to be famous. I feel like I fall on the side of I really love what I do.โ
Robinson thinks that artists who donโt truly love their craft last, but Megan said even those who donโt can still โsometimesโ carve out a lengthy career.
While the Houston Hottie has continued to tease her upcoming Act: III album, the โWAPโ rapper confirmed the project will welcome the return of her Tina Snow alter ego.
โA reintroduction for Hotties that may have not been with me since 2017, 2018; I think this will be a new experience for them,โ she said. โI think Iโm just reintroducing my alter ego, Tina Snow. Tina is grown now. She has been through lots of life since you heard from her last.
โI have so many collaborations that I feel like the Hotties have been asking for, from niche collaborations, collaborations thatโs overdue, collaborations that shock the people,โ Meg added. โI feel like Act: III is gonna be one of my favorite projects that I ever put out.โ
The 31-year-oldโs most album, Megan, came in June 2024. Itย debuted at No. 3ย on theย Billboard 200ย with 64,000 total album-equivalent units, according to Luminate. She returned with theย Act: IIย deluxe for the LP in October of the same year.
