Park Bo-gum became a superstar in his twenties, beloved for his looks and clean-cut image.
The critically acclaimed series stars Park as a young man born and raised on the shores of Jeju island in South Korea in the 1950s, who falls in love with and supports a woman whose dreams are continually thwarted on account of her sex.
In an unusual move, the series is being released weekly by Netflix, with four new episodes being presented each Friday in March.
This is Park’s first production following the completion of his mandatory military service in South Korea. Last summer, Park was seen in the star-studded sci-fi melodrama Wonderland, but that film was completed before the start of his national service and was one of many productions whose release was delayed during the pandemic.

A Seoul native, Park was born in 1993 the youngest of three siblings and lost his mother at an early age. He engaged in musical pursuits early in his life, which included taking up the piano and joining his church’s choir. He also made his school’s swimming team.
