Former Philippine leader Duterte in Hong Kong for event amid ICC probe

Former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte is set to attend a thanksgiving event in Hong Kong, amid an investigation by the International Criminal Court (ICC) into his controversial anti-drug campaign.

Sources confirmed to the Post that he was in Hong Kong. His appearance has featured prominently in promotional materials for a Filipino workersโ€™ event at Wan Chaiโ€™s Southorn Stadium on Sunday.

A Post reporter observed his daughter, Vice-President of the Philippines Sara Duterte, walking into the venue in the morning.

The event, titled the โ€œPasasalamat kay PRRD with OFWS (Overseas Filipino Workers)โ€, will run from 9am to 5pm.

Hundreds of people lined up outside the stadium from as early as 8am to catch a glimpse of the former president, with the queue stretching along the nearby Johnston Road.
